Petmate Litter Catcher Mat
by Carol Krzanowski

The use of clumping litter has its advantages, but I have always disliked the way the litter is so easily tracked all over the floor by the cats. Our wood floors always seemed gritty as a result, even with constant sweeping and vacuuming. In my quest to find a solution, I have used throw rugs under the litter boxes to help control the tracking somewhat. I have also tried some of the litter mats on the market but always felt they were rather ineffective.

Petmate Litter Catcher MatRecently I had an opportunity to try the Petmate Litter Catcher Mat. I have to admit I was skeptical about how well it would work, but as it turned out, this mat does keep tracking to a minimum by collecting most of the fine litter from the cats' paws. The mat is made of vinyl-like material with a solid, non-slip backing and soft tufts on the top that catch the stray litter as the cats walk across it. The Petmate Litter Catcher Mat can easily be vacuumed or taken outdoors to shake out the collected litter. The biggest question in my mind, though, was whether the tufted construction would make it difficult to clean and disinfect. I was quite surprised to find that it is fairly easy to clean, as the tufts shift and move around as they are scrubbed, enabling all surfaces to be thoroughly cleaned.

Thumbs Up!I think that the Petmate Litter Catcher Mat does a great job. In fact, I am so pleased with it that I plan on purchasing additional mats for use throughout the house.
